Description

Used to join two pipes.  Compression x Male Pipe Threads

The 3/4" RANGER will fit on the following types of pipes:

  • CTS – Copper Tube Type K or L
  • CTS – Polyethylene ASTM D2737 SDR 9 Tube Size
  • CTS – PEX Tubing ASTM F876 SDR 9 CSA B137.5
  • CTS – Polybutylene ASTM D2666 SDR 9 Tube Size Class 250
  • PEP – Polybutylene ASTM D2662 SIDR7
  • PEP – Polyethylene ASTM D2239 SIDR7 / SIDR9 Polyethylene Pipe Size
  • PVC – Brass Pipe and PVC ASTM D1785 SCH. 40
  • IPS – Polyethylene ASTM D3035 SDR 9 / SDR 11 OD Controlled Iron Pipe Size
  • IP – Steel Pipe

The RANGER is designed with a 301 stainless steel grip ring, a brass friction ring, and an EPDM rubber gasket.

  • Tighten-to-torque required - noted on installation instructions
  • Insert stiffeners required on all flexible plastic pipe connections
  • Use 6131 or 6133 Series stiffeners for CTS on flexible plastic pipe connections
  • Use 6136 Series stiffeners for PEP on flexible plastic pipe connections
  • Meet and exceeds AWWA C800-14, which requires fittings to be suitable for a water pressure of 150 PSIG
  • Withstands the same pressures as the tubing, but must not be used with pressures exceeding 300 PSIG
  • Double Leed Thread allows for compression nut to be assembled in half the time of a standard compression nut and eliminates the possibility of assembling an incompatible nut to these fittings.
  • Designed for underground and aboveground cold potable water systems
  • Manufactured in compliance with ANSI/AWWA C800 (latest revision)
  • Brass components in contact with potable water conform to ASTM B584, UNS C89833 (latest revision) and identified with “NL"
  • Certified to NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372
  • Brass components not in contact with potable water conform to ASTM B62 and ASTM B584, UNS C83600 -85-5-5-5 (latest revision)
  • Large wrench flats provided for proper installation

The simple steps listed below will make your job easier and assure fast, safe and watertight connections:

1. Service tubing should always be snaked in the ditch.

2. Use a tube or pipe cutter to assure a square end. Make sure pipe is round. On copper tubing, use a rounding tool, if necessary. Surface should be clean and free of nicks.

3. Insert stiffeners must be used with plastic tubing.

4. Stab tube through the nut and into the socket of the valve or fitting until it bottoms out (some fittings may or may not have a stop).

5. Tighten-to torque required. Noted on Installation instructions.

6. PRESSURE TEST FOR LEAKS BEFORE BACKFILLING.

7. USE ONLY ON COLD WATER SERVICES.

CAUTIONS

1. Protect threads. Avoid loose fitting wrenches. Do not drop or impact.

2. Inspect and test all joints, valves and fittings before backfilling.

3. Backfill carefully so as to avoid damage to the service line and connections. Looping of the service lines is recommended to minimize strain.

4. DO NOT use Vaseline, plumber's grease, or any other petroleum based product on seals or o-rings.
