THE HULK UNIVERSAL COUPLING by Fernco
A heavy-duty, multi-dimensional, non-shear sewer & drain repair coupling.
This stainless steel reinforced elastomeric coupling is made from the same material as other Fernco products. It is shear resistant due to the internal stainless steel rods installed in each coupling. The rods actively guide as the coupling is brought down tight around the pipe, & they supply the sheer resistance that makes The Hulk Coupling certified to ASTM C1173 for this type of product.

One universal coupling per nominal size connects most pipe materials, including:
  • Clay
  • Concrete
  • Ductile Iron
  • Orangeburg
  • Asbestos Cement
  • Duriron
  • Cast Iron
  • Steel
  • Plastic
The Hulk Coupling is available in 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, & 12 inch sizes & each will fit an array of O.D’s. For example, the HULK4 will fit from 4” PVC all the way up to a concrete pipe.

EROSION CONTROL SOLUTIONS
Erosion Control Blankets are used to protect disturbed slope and channel areas from wind and water erosion. They conform to land contours to create a protected, secure environment in which seed can be established and vegetation can take root – even on the steepest slopes.
Blankets are composed of mulch that is contained within a netting material. They are available in single net or double net format & there are blankets for both temporary and permanent applications. Contents range from natural fibers such as straw, wood and coconut to synthetic fibers like polypropylene. Specially designed pins or staples are used to anchor the blankets over the prepared soil & seed in order to keep them in place.

Q: I have an area that really isn’t sloped but is subject to wind and minor erosion. Which Erosion Blanket should I use?
A: The double net blankets will work well for this application and are the most cost effective option.
Q: What’s the difference between the temporary blankets and permanent products and when should I use which?
A: Short term blankets work best when vegetation will be established within about 3 months after installation and the area will thereafter be maintained (mowed). Permanent blanket use is preferred when erosion may be more severe over a longer period. This type of blanket can last more than 36 months before fully degrading and will give the vegetation more time to be established before maintenance is conducted.

Q: I can’t tell what a 1:1(1 to 1) versus a 2:1 slope is. What’s a simple method of calculation?
A: Slope is measured according to rise and run. A 3:1 slope has 3 feet of run to 1 foot of rise.
A 3:1 slope can be mowed sideways using a push mower.
On a 2:1 slope, a mower would slide down the slope and be in danger of tipping.
A 1:1 slope would probably flip the mower if a sideways approach was taken.
